Off the Block Print Exhibition

I’m so happy to have the five works in the photo below at Foundry Art Centre for their Off the Block print exhibition on view June 3rd - June 18th! Thanks to them for hosting this show and to the jurors at Grafik House USA for selecting my work for the show and choosing my print Tanagers (top middle) as Best of Show - such an honor!

Please go see the show if you’re in or near St. Charles, MO and click here to visit the gallery website for details.

In Conversation with the Land

I’m honored to have my work included alongside the work of so many talented artists in the exhibition entitled “In Conversation With The Land” at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO. Thank you to the gallery and to juror Karen Haas for the opportunity to engage the public about this important topic.

Please visit the gallery website to see the work and read Karen Haas’s statement about the show, and the gallery’s YouTube video to see the show in action.

From the gallery website:

“This exhibition’s title—“In Conversation with the Land”—may conjure up images of untouched wilderness and pristine nature, but what inspires many of the artists in the show is a desire to chronicle the lasting impact and irreversible harm that we as humans have inflicted on our planet. These fifty photographers speak to our fragile and complex relationship to the natural world using a wide variety of styles and employing very different means.”

Impressed: Upside Down

Impressed: Upside Down is a national juried printmaking exhibition at Art Gym Gallery in Denver, CO scheduled from March 19th - June 22nd, 2020 with an opening reception on March 19th. Thanks to Gregory Santos for accepting my work into this beautiful show, and thanks to the gallery for hosting it!

Link to the gallery listing: https://www.artgymdenver.com/event/impressed-upside-down/

You can see the show virtually here, and read artists’ statements, and see print details and pricing here.

The gallery’s show description:

Impressed: Upside Down brings together works from 30 artists across the country. The work is tied together by the strange and often surreal idea of everything being connected. Plants, animals, the earth, and humankind all began at the same place. Through change and choices, evolution and environment, we have arrived where we are today.

Tonja Torgerson explains in her artist statement “My prints explore the internal and external factors that compose one’s identity. Organs, blood, and bones intertwine with flowers and floriography. I am interested in this collision of nature with the body, and how it creates a difficult beauty and a pleasant anxiety.” While Brandon Williams states “I am interested in time and how it visually affects locations. The tension between the built environment and the natural environment, and how the two compete over the years against each other is fascinating to me.”

Included in the exhibit are: Rene Hugo Arceo, Martin Azevedo, Peter Baczek, Kristen Bartel, Jonathan Cartedge, Marc Cote, Julia Curran, Virginia Diaz Saiki, Wendi Dibbern, Justin Diggle, Thinh Dinh, Amanda Durig, Juana Estrada Hernandez, Jessica Gross, Todd Herzberg, Tiana Honda, Raluca Iancu, Sarojini Johnson, Wesley Kramer, Jun Lee, Neal McCormick, Hailey Quick, Nicolle St. Cyr, Taro Takizawa, Tonja Torgerson, Brian Wagner, Art Werger, Brandon Williams, Harris Wiltsher, and Elizabeth Younce.”
